Histology Technician - Gainesville

Job summary:
The Histology Technician supports biobanking of human tissue,histology and sample distribution performed at nPOD
and OPPC within Department of Pathology.
This position performs complex procedures,
tissue sectioning processing including receipt
tissue fixation freezing storage special staining techniques assist operation maintenance automatic H&E Immunohistochemistry machines QC quality scanned slide inventory database decalcification protocols write SOPs review scientific literature attend weekly meetings communicate internal external clients routine lab maintenance evaluate new equipment determine meets OPPC specific actions.
Possible responsibilities:
- FFPE microtomy OCT frozen sectioning case samples off site investigator request.
- Assist with archiving retrieval distribution operate multiple laboratory information management systems track histology embed sectioned tissue pancreas heart spleen kidney lymph nodes duodenum monthly completion preventative maintenance embedding station organization embedding area.
- Gross tissue processing receipt gross fine dissection tissue fixation freezing storage manual special staining techniques Trichrome Pentachrome Verhoeff van Gieson stains assist operation automatic H&E Immunohistochemistry machines QC quality scanned slide inventory database complete decalcification protocols edit write SOPs review scientific literature.
