Description:
Demonstrate proficiency through the performance of routine and emergency echocardiograms, such as 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physicians and following established protocols.
Conduct cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for patients using independent judgment, with real-time and off-line manipulation of echocardiographic images to capture, display, and analyze echocardiography data.
Provide echocardiography service at all required locations, working varied shifts, weekends, and providing emergency call coverage as scheduled.Operate necessary equipment to perform all procedures and obtain optimal diagnostic recordings; utilize ancillary devices like selected transducers, digital networking systems, and off-line analysis systems.
Maintain equipment, make minor adjustments and repairs, perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunctions to the echo lab manager.Analyze patients' medical records to gather symptom history and necessary information for conducting diagnostic procedures.
Prepare preliminary reports for Cardiologist review and interpretation, including comparisons with previous studies. Participate in quality improvement activities, evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy, maintain records, and files.
Review departmental performance against established goals, implement changes to improve outcomes.
Uphold patient, employee, and corporation-related confidentiality.
Instruct students, fellows, nurses, or other healthcare personnel as needed.
Communicate technical and patient care information following established processes and timelines.
Attend Echo Lab Meetings, engage in Echo-related conferences for continuous education and professional development.
Foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment within the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold ARDMS or CCI certifications in Echocardiography as required by each entity within 12 months of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is mandatory.
