- Establishing depreciation rates and groups for assets and recording depreciation/amortization expenses.
- Preparing records for ERP migration, conducting tests on ERP data and processes, and ensuring accuracy.
- Maintaining asset records.
- Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Managing fixed asset acquisition and retirement.
- Recording and retiring assets, maintaining detailed asset activity records, and reviewing payment vouchers for capital assets.
- Processing monthly depreciation and amortization for depreciable assets.
- Processing journal vouchers for payment voucher coding corrections and miscellaneous property corrections.
- Compiling monthly asset detail files for accounts receivable to support customer billing for capital improvements.
- Managing and maintaining asset tagging authority.
- Recording monthly statistical entries for capital cash flows.
- Maintaining Excel asset detail listings and monthly reconciliation with subledgers.
- Assisting in the implementation of a new ERP.
- Preparing monthly reconciliations with moderate complexity.
- Reviewing transactions for correctness and preparing routine and ad hoc reports and data exports.
- Assisting in rate, overhead, and allocation calculations.
- Performing other assigned duties.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting with 2-4 years of related experience required.
- Two years of fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Title 18 chart of accounts preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP platform.
- Experience with Maximo.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities with a focus on customer service for strong business relationships.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Utility experience is a plus.
- Extended periods of sitting required.
- Sitting, bending, stooping, and working with extended arms is necessary.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Efficient and safe task performance.
- Primarily office work environment.
