    Description


    The Senior Accountant for Financial Reporting & Analysis position is responsible for assisting with the quarterly closing, preparation of internal and external financial reports, fiscal year-end closings and audit.

    This position will also be responsible for performing other external reporting duties, including the NCAA agreed upon procedures reports and filing with the NCAA as well as provide any additional support the Contoller's Office requires.

    The Senior Accountant is also in charge of monitoring and reporting on spendable endowment funds, both to Finance and to the community.

    This position will also be accoutable for all Development accounting issues, including various system reconciliation and gift classification issues, and pledge accounting.

    He/she will assist in the maintenance of endowment unitization to periodically distribute endowment investment portfolio income using the Banner endowment moduleDuties and Responsibilities:
    Assists with the annual financial audit and the preparation of the annual audit report.

    Also performs financial accounting research from time to time for the Controller's Office, and will be involved with new accounting standards implementation in the coming years.

    Performs year-end closing analyses and adjustments related to accounting issues and other as assigned.

    Assists in the preparation of quarterly internal financial management reports (activities statement, balance sheet, and cashflow, with analytical commentary) that go to the CFO and Board, as well as performs annual ratio/dashboard analyses and benchmarking to other universities.

    The Senior Accountant for Financial Reporting & Analysis position is responsible for completing the NCAA agreed upon procedures reports and filing with the NCAA.Assists Development in periodically reconciling and resolving any issues between Raisers Edge Development System and the general ledger.

    This includes reconciling their performance reports to the general ledger and to the annual audit report. Works with the Development Office to correctly classify gifts and create new funds. Assist in pledge accounting , including dealing with Development on classification issues, discounting pledges, and estimating collection reserves. Assist Development with the University's annual financial audit.

    Assist in the preparation of various financial reports for the Provost office and other areas, including the financial sections of IPEDS, US News, Middle States, Law ABA, and Seminary ATS reporting.

    Also, is involved in preparing the Federal indirect cost calculation (done once every three years), and completing the NACUBO annual financial endowment study.

    This position works with Financial Systems personnel to quarterly distribute endowment portfolio earnings to the various individual endowment funds in the financial system using the Banner Endowment Management module.

    In addition, this position supports in the distributions to spendable funds out of the individual endowment funds quarterly. It also is responsible for certain donor stewardship reporting that is completed by Finance.

    Monitors spendable endowment funds to properly classify spendable support from the endowment and properly release restricted funds to unrestricted based on spending.

    Works with Development to collect, coordinate and disseminate information related to true endowment funds and spendable endowment funds.

    Provides assistance to departments throughout the University in the setup, maintenance and reporting for all funds assigned to restricted and endowment spendable Funds.


    Required Qualifications:
    3 to 5 years experienceBachelor's degree in AccountingEither has CPA or has passed at least one section of the CPA exam with the intention of passing all four sections

    Licenses and Certificates:
    Either has CPA or has passed at least one section of the CPA exam with the intention of passing all four sections
