    Job Description

    Nando's is looking for Prep Cooks to help our restaurants maintain high quality standards and efficiency by ensuring ingredients are prepared for service in a timely manner.

    As a prep cook, your main task is to prepare food items assigned by the management team on a daily basis. You will be responsible for using fresh ingredients, adhering to sanitation guidelines, and following recipes to ensure consistent product quality.

    Essential Functions

    • Prepare all food items consistently and promptly in a sanitary manner.
    • Maintain quality by ensuring proper rotation of perishable and non-perishable products.
    • Ensure consistency by regularly tasting food.
    • Minimize kitchen waste and maximize product usage to control food cost.
    • Assist with inventory management by counting items and preparing orders.
    • Adhere to recipes, procedures, and specifications provided by the restaurant.
    • Restock items as needed during the shift.
    • Properly store and label all food items.
    • Keep a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
    • Understand and utilize all equipment in your station effectively.
    • Receive and store incoming orders.

    Requirements

    • Basic knowledge of knife handling.
    • Understanding and compliance with safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
    • Prior experience as a prep cook.
    • Ability to take direction from superiors.
    • Team player with the capability to work collaboratively.
    • Demonstrate consistency and productivity in your work.
    • Committed to delivering quality service and possessing food and beverage expertise.
    • Physically able to handle knives and other kitchen tools.
    • Skills in using kitchen machinery like slicers, ovens, stoves, and mixers.
