    Description

    The Director of Public Policy plays a crucial role in advocating for the interests of the Alzheimers Association in Iowa. This position involves representing the organization before various state bodies, facilitating grassroots engagement, and championing state and federal public policy priorities.

    Responsibilities:
    - Plan and execute a multi-year state legislative and regulatory agenda
    - Draft bills, secure sponsors, and provide testimony before legislative committees
    - Develop relationships with elected officials and community stakeholders
    - Track state legislation and monitor committee meetings
    - Organize the Associations annual State Advocacy Day event
    - Identify opportunities for grassroots engagement on state issues
    - Collaborate with volunteers working with members of Congress
    - Provide expertise on Federal policy priorities
    - Collaborate with various Association staff across different departments
    Qualifications:
    - Bachelors degree required
    - 5 to 7 years experience in state government affairs
    - Strong understanding of the legislative process in Iowa
    - Experience in volunteer management and community organizing
    - Knowledge of Medicaid, aging, and health-related issues
    - Excellent written and oral communication skills
    - Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects
    - Strong negotiation skills and ability to work with diverse populations
    - Willingness to travel across the state as needed
