    Job Summary:

    In-Home Direct Support Professional

    As an In-Home Direct Support Professional, you will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction to individuals with disabilities.

    You will support individuals in their homes or within their community and assist in the development and monitoring of their individual plans, hopes, and dreams.

    You will support individuals in developing their essential living skills by maintaining/increasing their independence.

    Maintaining documentation, performing record keeping, and participating in periodic meetings/trainings in accordance with regulations are also responsibilities.

    Advocacy skills are expected of all staff who work for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support individuals with disabilities in their homes or within their community
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of individual plans, hopes, and dreams
    • Support individuals in developing essential living skills
    • Maintain documentation and perform record keeping
    • Participate in periodic meetings/trainings in accordance with regulations

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and Motor Vehicle Check
    • Successful completion of background check
    • Medication administration training
    • Computer and math skills
    • Able to read, write, solve problems, and accept/follow through with directions
    • Good decision-making skills and ability to respond to emergency situations
    • Able to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility
    • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
