SUMMARY

Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of Head Start center(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains sanitary conditions in and around the facility(s)
Monitor and clean up debris outside of building as needed
Maintain the heating system at the center
Makes repairs and maintenance work requiring handyman abilities including painting, simple carpentry and plumbing
Keeps housekeeping inventory
Cooperates with staff on all housekeeping details
Reports any serious maintenance and repair needs to supervisor
Model positive work ethic for parents and staff

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to solve problems; ability to be flexible; ability to carry out oral and written directions; dependability and good physical condition. Ability to be a team player.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma/GED. Experience in janitorial work; ability to learn handyman skills that would involve carpentry and plumbing.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Completion of the CAO of Erie County, Inc., application form including completion of the NYS SCR Clearance form, criminal record certification and release(s) forms for reference checks

All persons hired for positions in CAO Head Start programs must pass a physical examination by a CAO physician (paid for by CAO), must receive acceptable SCR clearance and be free of criminal convictions for crimes against children (misdemeanor and felony). Finger printing required.
