    Potential Work/Location :Davidson, live within 1 hour of location.

    BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

    SSG Procurement Specialists source, quote and purchase non-stock MRO products for our customers in US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Works independently identifying, sourcing and purchasing non-stock MRO products for potential or pending orders. These items could be off the shelf, semi-standard, line extensions or made-to-order. RFQs are received via a ticketing system, requests are submitted by our outside sales Associates.

    DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Purchasing, Sourcing and Quoting: Evaluates and selects the best supplier solution based on availability, FOB Shipping Point, lead time and cost of product
    • Ability to identify a requested item by MFG part number, detailed description, picture or drawing
    • Sourcing and purchasing next-day, 2nd day and will-call emergency orders. Complete ownership of these orders from entry, PO, expediting to proof-of-delivery.
    • Continual communication with our outside sales team: Request for more information, provide suggestions for cost savings, freight options, product education, discuss market relevant pricing options, RFQ / order status etc.
    • Sources and negotiates with potential suppliers to grow our 3600+ supplier base, evaluates and analyzes results and recommends and sets up new suppliers
    • Responsible for managing daily workload to accommodate RFQs, received throughout the day and overnight, emergency RFQs requested by managers and air freight requests while meeting or exceeding personal and department goals
    • Spot Buys: Source and purchase out-of-stock product to fulfill our customer's needs. Determine the best solution based on availability and delivery to the customer
    • Manage purchase orders shipping from US to Canada and works to identify availability in Canada to save customs and freight costs
    • Evaluate suppliers as possible candidates for the EZ Source program that contains over 2 million active SKUs. Negotiates long-term competitive pricing, product availability, immediate shipping and PO dollar minimum.
    • Adapts to continuous process improvements and quickly adopts these new processes
    • Works with warehouse associates to resolve trouble sheets, shipping errors, shortages
    • Expedites and devises alternative resourcing solutions to resolve backorders in a timely manner
    • Works independently with minimal supervision
    • Works with Logistics, to ensure the best cost saving freight options
    • Works cross-functionally with our Sale Support and Product and Bid Support teams to ensure customer needs and expectations are met and exceeded
    • Responsible for maintaining and resolving below dollar PO minimum report within specialized product lines
    • Evaluates and decides when to use existing SSG SKUs or create new item numbers. May need to reactivate existing items and update: cost, characteristics, supplier cross-reference etc.
    • Will need to work in multiple systems: ASI, AS/400, SSG Excel tools and on-line portals internally and vendor websites and order entry portals externally
    • Will decide when to use the SSG P-Card for products that are not available from our current suppliers. Responsible for processing P-Card quotes from quote to delivery based on the provided standard work
    • Drives the MSC Culture throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
    • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
    • An Associate Degree in Business or the equivalent experience is preferred
    • 3 to 5 years MRO Distribution purchasing experience preferred
    SKILLS:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
    • Excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain large amounts of data
    • PC aptitude in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office - Excel, Access, Word, Power Point) preferred and the ability to learn other software packages required
    • Ability to conduct research, data gather, analyze, interpret information and make recommendations
    • Proven ability to problem solve, makes decisions, and initiate change
    Self-starter capable of working in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.

    Compensation starting at $ $76340 depending on experience.

    The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
