- The main function of a logistics planning analyst is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule.
- A typical planning analyst is responsible for reviewing and distributing production, work and shipment schedules and compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, etc.
- Examine documents, materials and products, and monitor work processes in order to assess completeness, accuracy and conformation to standards and specifications.
- Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.
- Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures.
- Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze costs related to manufacturing, labor and materials.
- Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and production.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2-4 years related experience required.

- Backfill of high-performing incumbent who has built a strong working relationship and sense of trust with the internal customer (Client Parts).
- Client's machines, engines, and other products are used in all regions of the world, with a global supply base shipping to factories and parts distribution facilities on six continents. This position will support exports of parts and components from the United States to factories and parts distribution facilities in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
- Training in all necessary IT tools, training in Global flows of material from the United States, interactions with Client parts, opportunity to visit Illinois-based transportation and logistics facilities.
- Track the progress of containerized ocean shipments and intervene as necessary to ensure their on-time delivery to the customer.
- Review ocean bookings to make sure they meet the shipper's and customer's needed dates, are on the correct service with the correct steamship line, and are using the correct ports. Drive corrections when they are not.
- Assist the freight forwarder in making sure all necessary paperwork for export compliance have been submitted, are complete, are accurate, and on-time.
- Assist shippers and customers with status updates, advancement requests, change requests, and questions about costs, transit times, and other support requests.
- Lead Root Cause Corrective Action projects and participate in Lean projects to improve ocean export performance.
- Report out to key stakeholders weekly on the performance of key lanes.
- Compile and deliver a weekly presentation to key customers on weekly export performance.
- Assist in identifying and resolving document issues so that export approval is obtained and Shipping Instructions are submitted before the documentation cutoff.
- Respond to requests for information on lane costs, shipment tracking, carrier performance, and transit times.
- Extensive collaboration with ground and ocean transportation analysts, steamship line representatives, freight forwarders, and Client Parts stakeholders. Will work closely with colleagues in Asia, Europe, and Australia.
- Will need to be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Can work from home or office on Mondays and Fridays. Successful candidate will be comfortable in a stressful environment characterized by unpredictable challenges and must-meet deadlines. 100% Office work.
- College degree preferred, but high school diploma or GED required with 2-4 years of transportation or international supply chain experience acceptable.
- Excellent position for candidates with two or four year degrees in political science, international relations, international business, or geography.
- Comfortable with Excel and Power Point
- Strong customer service focus and sense of urgency;
- Comfortable with intercultural communication;
- Ability to problem solve challenges ranging from weather events to labor disruptions to rail congestion to mistakes in commercial documents to bridges falling into harbors.
