    Executive Director, Web & Mobile Strategy

    The Office of Communications and Marketing is comprised of a high performing team responsible for advancing the university's reputation and telling GW's story through a diverse array of university channels, including digital and web properties and publications, multimedia and web properties, creative services, publications, media relations and paid marketing efforts across the university.

    This office drives the strategy and tactics for showcasing and raising the visibility of the university's experts, initiatives, and accomplishments.

    The Executive Director, Web & Mobile Strategy provides strategic direction and leadership for the university's web and mobile presence.

    Part of the university's Office of Communications and Marketing ( OCM ) and reporting to the Associate Vice President for Marketing, the Executive Director oversees the web and mobile properties that support GW's communications and marketing priorities.

    Overseeing the university's web and mobile strategy and tool set, taking a holistic view and ensuring alignment with the institution's short- and long-term goals and objectives.

    Partnering with OCM communication and marketing leads to ensure GW web and mobile content aligns with strategic university messaging.

    Collaborating with internal and cross-divisional stakeholders to identify web/mobile needs, set priorities, and execute sustainable solutions.
    Communicating web/mobile initiatives within the division and to university partners.
    Managing a team comprising school/unit web leads, developers, and support/training staff.
    Championing a culture of continuous improvement and learning, accountability, positive team dynamics, data-informed decision making, and cross-functional collaboration.
    Representing OCM on university-wide committees, such as the Digital Accessibility Committee.
    Providing guidance on emerging web technologies, trends, and best practices.
    Implementing processes to ensure GW web content is reliably comprehensive and up-to-date.
    Ensuring websites are optimally configured for measurement of organic and paid marketing efforts.
    Ensuring compliance with university policies, standards, and regulations related to web development, accessibility, security, and privacy.
    Budget authority for the unit.

    Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, Master's degree, or higher, in a relevant area of study preferred.

    Relevant experience must include at least 2 years of senior leadership/executive level experience.

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; 10+ years of experience in web development and project management, with a track record of successful leadership in large-scale enterprise environments.

    ~ Extensive knowledge of web technologies and methodologies, including content management systems and user experience.
    ~ Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them on time and within budget.
    ~ Knowledge of higher education and academic environments is preferred.
