    This position is eligible for our Clinical Laboratory Incentive Program. Performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS .

    The Core Laboratory is comprised of multiple testing areas- Chemistry, Toxicology, Blood Gas Analysis, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Automated Hematology and Manual Hematology, including Smear Review and Body Fluid Analysis, and Specimen Processing.

    Hours: 11:15pm-7:45am Monday-Friday with 1 in 4 weekends and rotating holidays. Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.

    May serve as a Lead Technologist or Program Manager in areas such as quality control, education, competency, equipment, safety, etc.

    Monitors daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
    Participates on teams or performs special projects/assignments
    Performs non-routine, more complex test procedures including special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions and provides data.
    Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratories.
    Reports results to healthcare providers. Consults/confers with healthcare providers regarding test results.
    Teaches Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents. Requires Bachelor's of Science degree.
    Requires two years of experience at the medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist level.
