- Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials and/or services from suppliers; Prepare and evaluate supplier quotations and services to determine the most competitive solution based upon a total cost of ownership
- Independently conduct multiple complex sourcing projects
- Provide purchasing support throughout the organization
- Generate PO's for all business locations by specific commodities
- Verify orders and ensure on-time delivery of parts, supplies, tools, goods, etc.
- Negotiate and implement cost savings to meet or exceed material cost and total cost reduction objectives
- Assist with purchasing and negotiating materials and/or services from suppliers
- Forecasts/reports monthly performance of material economics/cost saving objectives; advise management of risks/opportunities
- Maintain accurate procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality, vendor performance, inventories, etc.
- Expedite orders and follow up on critical orders to ensure that redelivery is on time and expenses are minimized
- Communicate vendor issues to appropriate management member or purchasing contact, for a proactive resolution
- Interface between suppliers and engineering/project managers/sales to answer any questions related to RFQ documents
- Commit to a healthy and safe work place by identifying and eliminating hazards
- Abide by Quality Policy and Business Objectives and EHS rules and regulations
- Responsible for job closing process.
- High School Diploma required plus three (3) years purchasing experience in production/manufacturing environment; Experience with commodities, electrical components, high voltage equipment related to manufacturing of electrical distribution equipment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, EPICOR or similar purchasing software
- Must possess excellent keyboard, grammar, punctuation, spelling skills
- Exceptional quantitative, analytical, planning and skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must have successful work performance, demonstrate an ability to work well with others, exercise sound judgment and display initiative and innovation on the job
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic ability to work effectively with diverse customers both internal and external
