    Seeks qualified candidates in the Philadelphia area that are highly organized, energetic, self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as a team for the position of Residential Electric Distribution Designer.

    The position will conduct field/site surveying, lead project estimation, produce

    designs/construction


    prints using Bentley MicroStation, apply for permitting / POCS / ROW / Chapter 56 / Clearance Requests, and enter related materials and requirements into job packages within Asset Suite 8 in accordance with the client's standards of construction and specifications.


    Requirements Include:
    Three (3) years' prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation.
    Three (3) years' prior experience with gas main and gas distribution design and estimation.
    Three (3) years' prior experience with Bentley Micro Station and/or AutoCAD.

    Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent, ability to pass background check and drug screening and possess a current PA Driver's License with an insurable driving record.

    Ability to represent self in the client's image while meeting with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.

    Ability to use surveying instruments and field equipment for data collection to create Electric Distribution Designs, property surveys, interpretation of property line boundary, , as-built surveys, construction staking and ROW staking.

    Ability to stay abreast with the changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies associated with Electric Distribution Design.
    Ability to mentor/train other staff members to transfer personal design knowledge to others.
    Proficient with the design of both overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.

    Ability to recognize electric distribution framing and components 4kV through 34kV, to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction of both overhead and underground distribution facilities.

    Ability to perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, conductor sag interpretation, unitized framing design, construction practices and safety guidelines using industry tools and methods.

    Ability to take responsibility for the quality, accuracy and time constraints of work product.
    Possess strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.

    Proficient with the use of a laptop computer, and related software programs including, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word.

    Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
    Strong skills of time management, organizational and multi-tasking.

    Desired Duties and Responsibilities Include:
    Prefer an Associate's degree or certificate in computer-aided design (CAD) Technology.
    Strong knowledge and use of MicroStation or AutoCAD..
    Use of geospatial surveying equipment.
    Knowledge of operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
    Knowledge of joint construction and electric utility best practices.
    Background in overhead and underground electric distribution line design, standards for construction and design guidelines.

    Prefer the ability to research and collect property deed information at record facilities for the evaluation of existing or proposed easements, establish ownership information and definition of property boundaries.

    Familiarity with the NESC and its applications to electric distribution line design.
    Familiarity with the procedures for permit acquisition involving PENNDOT, City, County, and State applications.
