DSHS DDA Transition Psychologist 3 - Olympia, United States - State of Washington

    Default job background
    Description
    Psychologist - Transition Psychologist

An amazing opportunity for a Psychologist to join our team Enjoy remote work options and be on the ground floor of a revolutionary shift in developmental care

The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) within the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), seeks a psychologist to join a tight-knit and dynamic team of psychologists and psychology associates whose mission is to ensure people with intellectual or developmental disabilities have the support they need to live healthy, safe, and inclusive lives.

You will be located in Region 2 (Northwestern Washington). While being paired with a region, your expertise may be required in other parts of the state.

Your work will be accomplished utilizing both remote and in-person services which may require travel, and some overnight may be necessary.

You'll support DSHS and DDA's mission to serve people with an intellectual, developmental disability who are transferring from one residential or custodial setting to another and are at risk of losing a residential provider due to changes in the person's assessed needs; are discharging from hospitals, are returning to Washington state from out of state treatment services and are transferring to a different residential setting based on the person's choice of providers.

As part of a state-wide transition team, you provide direct support through case consultation, technical assistance, plan writing, staff training, and training people with intellectual, and developmental disabilities.

The transition psychologist 3 provides crisis, stabilization, and planning services.

You will build system capacity and competency of DDA staff and service providers who work with people with intellectual, and developmental disabilities who are also diagnosed with mental health or behavioral needs.

You'll work closely with regional Clinical Teams and Transition Team members.

Additionally, the Transition Psychologist 3 works with the person with an intellectual, or developmental disability, family members, guardians, others that support the person with an intellectual, or developmental disability, community service providers, as well as residential and employment providers.

You report to the Transition Team Psychologist 4, who is responsible for clinical supervision and administrative review of work.

Snohomish County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

    Some of What You'll do

    Provide client-specific:

    • Technical assistance
    • Consultation, assessment, and data analysis to support completion of functional assessments and positive behavior support plans
    • Write functional assessments and positive behavior support plans
    • Develop and train data collection systems, data analysis, and recommendations to increase replacement behaviors and decrease behaviors targeted for change
    • Observations to monitor plan implementation and service efficacy
    • Plan revisions as needed
    • Data analysis of client data about client objectives for behavioral issues
    • Plans that comply with federal, state, and policy standards of best practice in psychology
    • Translate third-party behavior management programs (e.g., plans written by state plan providers) into positive behavior support plans that align with DDA policy requirements
    • Coordinate with mental health experts and other professionals to facilitate treatment services for people with intellectual, and developmental disabilities
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of consultation and technical assistance provided through follow-up activities
    • Maintain current knowledge of national trends and innovations in community-based behavioral and mental health treatment for people with intellectual, and developmental disabilities
