    OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL
    Traditional 235 work days per year
    FTE: 1.0
    Salary Range: $83,366 - $102,108
    Application Deadline: April 30th, 2024.
    Essential Functions and Objectives:
    • Ensures District practices, policies, and dealings meet legal and regulatory requirements to protect the organization and defend it when legal action arises. Provides counsel on contracts, student data privacy, operations, and business management. Collaborates closely with the Deputy General Counsel or General Counsel.
    • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts and facility use management.
    • Assists with responses to records requests under the Colorado Open Records Act.
    • Develops legal strategies, provides advice for ensuring District's compliance with rules, laws, and policies.
    • Conducts legal research and analysis considering District policies.
    • Independently prepares written work products such as pleadings, briefs, and legal research.
    • Responds to directives from legal superiors.
    • Resolves conflicts, builds consensus, and represents the District in legal proceedings.
    • Contributes to policy development, optimizes efficiency, and conducts trainings for client groups.
    Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
    • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in contracts, student-data privacy laws, transactional and operations experience. Familiarity with state and federal laws governing District activities.
    • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently or in a team, collaborate effectively with legal and non-legal staff.
    • Leadership skills, conflict resolution ability, strong research and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and/or Project Management Software.
    • Verbal and written fluency in second language preferred.
    Education Requirements:
    Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited institution required.

    • Employee must be based in Colorado while working for Denver Public Schools.
