    Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role:

    We are looking for a self-motivated Technician to assist with the research and teaching in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

    What You'll Do – Position Duties

    As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Keeping the equipment, computers and materials used in our teaching labs well maintained.
  • Maintaining the operation of computers in labs, offices, and classrooms, including software installation and update.
  • Maintaining the chemical inventories and required SDSs and other documentation in our labs.
  • Assisting with safety procedures, training, ppe and inspections in our laboratories.
  • Assisting with departmental equipment/property inventories and records.
  • Assisting with departmental and faculty purchasing, ordering, and receiving and handling of computer and laboratory items.
  • Helping faculty members install, update and maintain the materials and equipment in their research area
  • Performing other jobs as needed for teaching and research assigned by departmental chair.

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate Degree with experience.
  • 2 years in mechanical or computer related work.
  • Key Competencies:

  • Good communication skills and ability to interpret oral/written instructions.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair;
  • Operational knowledge of manual/power tools.
  • Skills and experience in computer systems, including hardware and CAD/CAM software.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
