Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare patient for examination.
    • Note brief history or the reason for the visit in the patient's chart/EMR system
    • Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration,
    • Assist the clinical staff in completing examination procedures as instructed.
    • Administer medications and injections as ordered.
    • Follow Universal Precautions to protect self and patients.
    • Assist the medical staff in patient education and family planning and counseling.
    • Stock exam rooms with supplies
    • Perform CLIA waived testing
    • Under the direction of the provider in charge, takes responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment.
    • Obtain Laboratory samples and complete paperwork as ordered by the provider
    • Any other duties or responsibilities the clinical staff may assign from time to time and when the need arises.
  1. Enter data, documents and performs procedures.
    • Physician orders are correctly entered using electronic information/data systems.
    • Information related to procedures, injections, allergy skin tests, collection date and times is documented correctly and in accordance with departmental policy.
    • Patient medications are correctly documented and updated as needed.
    • Completely fill out office forms (i.e. referral forms) when necessary.
    • Complete vaccine logs/forms
    • Interpret for the clinical staff when necessary, "Spanish/English."
  1. Provide a high standard of customer service maintains workflow and resolves problems.
    • A professional demeanor is maintained at all times with patients, patient families, co-workers and other healthcare professionals.
    • Problems are resolved using appropriate resources and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
    • Unresolved problems are clearly communicated to the supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Workflow is maintained in accordance with departmental standards.
    • Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial, ethnic and economic status.
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety and compliance.
    • All samples are handled according to safety protocols.
    • Data for Quality Assurance is submitted to supervisor in a timely manner.
    • OSHA Compliance regulations are adhered to at all times.
  1. Perform area-specific support/clinical activities.
    • Accuracy and quality are maintained for activities.
    • Specific support functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.
    • Deadlines for activities are met.
    • Specific support functions are handled in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
