    Purpose

    • Ensure Field Service Engineering (FSE) Group meets HMA/GMA goals for quality and customer satisfaction.
    • Track and provide feedback on FSE reports.
    • Ensure the staff is efficiently and appropriately utilized.
    • Manage Task Force Team (TFT) and other technical visit requests.
    • Lead a team of highly technical associates while providing appropriate growth and development opportunities.
    • Pursue continuous improvement in the FSE teams' efficiency and impact on the organization.
    Major Responsibilities
    • Manage and develop the Field Service Engineers (FSE) Group to provide product and technical support to Hyundai and Genesis retailers and conduct on-site product problem investigations. Ensure appropriate training, equipment, and information for all FSEs.
    • Work closely with Regional and National Management to develop, optimize, and review the roles of FSE within the regional organization in fulfilling company business objectives. Work closely with the Quality Service Engineering (QSE) group to ensure field and customer data is accurately and efficiently communicated.
    • Collaborate with internal and external groups such as Legal, Consumer Affairs, Hyundai Motor North America (HMNA) QSE, HMNA Safety, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA), Hyundai North American Quality Center (NAQC), and Hyundai American Technical Center Incorporated (HATCI), Techline/FastVac, and Executive teams to resolve escalated cases. Improving processes along the way.
    Major Responsibilities (continued)
    • Schedule and host weekly staff meetings.
    • Schedule and host weekly technical meetings with HMNA QSE, HMNA Safety, HMMA, NAQC, and HATCI teams. Support new model development as needed (Launch Gate meeting support).
    • Support QSE Launch Quality Monitoring Process (LQMP) with FSE reports and meeting participation.
    • Support onsite dealer visits as needed.
    • Support Product Quality Management System (PQMS) maintenance, development, and enhancements for FSE team use and data collection.
    • Efficiently coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing a staff's time, materials, and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
    • Lead the development of all associated staff for the purpose of improved technical and problem-solving capability, career development, and work group morale.
    • Manage FSE vehicle Demo Fleet through vehicle administration and company vehicle management portal (CVMP).
    • Manage purchasing needs for the team as per company policy.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
    Authority
    • Approval for direct report business expense reports.
    • Approval for direct report business travel requests.
    • Approve and finalize all FSE reports submitted in PQMS.
    • Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
      Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.
      Coach and provide career development advice to staff.
      Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
    • Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, and back-up for absent employees.
    • Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.
      Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.
    Education

    ~ Must be a high school graduate
    ~ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Statistics/Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering preferred.
    ~ Master's degree a plus

    Related Experience
    • Eight years of Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience.
    • Two to three years of Managerial experience desired.
    Skills/Knowledge
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
      Strong written and oral communication skills.
      Strong analytical/problem solving ability.
    • Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting capabilities.
    • Strong organizational skills yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
    Certification
    • ASE Master Automotive Technician certification preferred.
    • ASE L1 Automobile Advanced Engine Performance certification a plus.
    Physical Requirements

    Occasional Lifting and/or vehicle mechanical assembly/disassembly
    Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
    Travel: 25% - 50%
    Business travel as needed
