    Job Description
    We're seeking a Secret cleared IT Operations Analyst to bolster our team supporting the Department of Defense. This role primarily operates from our Herndon, VA location with occasional remote work opportunities.

    As part of the Service Continuity (Service Delivery) Team, you'll play a pivotal role in managing operational services for a vital Department of Defense (DoD) application.

    Collaboration with various program teams for application releases and close coordination with the Hosting Services Team to facilitate monthly maintenance activities will be key aspects of this role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The selected candidate will be responsible for the following (a high-level overview, not exhaustive):


    • Providing robust support for Production services post-government access approval.
    • Executing tasks in the LAB environment for training and extending Splunk support for releases.
    • Delivering round-the-clock operational support for a DoD Application. Being available for on-call after-hours and weekend support (in weekly rotations) in addition to regular day-to-day tasks.
    • Creating, maintaining, and executing scripts and processes vital for service delivery.
    • Conducting daily system and application checks and continuous monitoring throughout the day, promptly addressing issues via JIRA tickets.
    • Swiftly evaluating system exceptions and applying the appropriate corrective actions following established procedures and personal judgment.
    • Handling application shutdowns, start-ups, and validations for daily checks, incident responses, monthly Hosting Services Maintenance patching cycles, and supporting release deployments as needed.
    • Managing incident reports, conducting root cause analyses, and ensuring timely resolution while liaising with relevant teams.
    • Serving as a primary point of contact between the Travel Assistance Center and external partners during system-related events.
    • Maintaining seamless collaboration with the Hosting Services team and other program units while ensuring efficient task prioritization and resolution.
    • Analyzing trends and past incidents to enhance processes and avert future occurrences, updating operational metrics accordingly.
    • Conducting routine data loads and ensuring adherence to defined procedures. Offering guidance to junior administrators/technicians when required.
    • Developing and managing comprehensive system documentation, including standard operational procedures and a knowledge base for operational service triage.
    • Creating, updating, and ensuring timely completion of work tickets, ensuring successful implementation of tasks.
    Essential Qualifications:


    • Minimum of active Secret clearance
    BS: 5-7 years hands-on technical experience, MS: 3-5 years, PhD: 0-2 years


    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Linux systems as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer Security Compliance certification (at least one) and Computing Environment certification (at least one) required.
    • Ability to follow application startup/shutdown procedures, conduct user interface validations, and backend system checks
    • Hands-on experience with RedHat Linux OS and proficient in root cause/problem resolution.
    • Familiarity with SQL Developer tools for data processing
    • Proficiency in Apache, Tomcat, and Java applications Experience with Monitoring Tools (e.g. Splunk Enterprise, Xymon, others) Knowledge/Experience in writing shell scripts (Perl, SHELL)
    • Experience working with collaboration tools like Microsoft TEAMS and Office/Office 365 (Word, Excel)
    Certification Requirements:


    • Production Operations - Security Compliance: Must possess a current Security+ CE certification or equivalent security certification.

    One of the following certifications is required:
    Security+ CE (Preferred) CySA+ GICSP GSEC CND SSCP


    • Production Operations - Computing Environment: At least one of the following certifications is required: CompTIA Linux+ Linux LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 certification CompTIA Server+ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Higher CompTIA
    • Must have at least one of the following: CompTIA Linux+, Linux LPIC-1 or LPIC-2 certification, CompTIA Server+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Higher, CompTIA ITF+ (IT Foundations)
