POSITION FEATURES:

This is a role within the Dialysis Transitional Care Unit (TCU) with training provided.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry point into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). Responsible for providing competent care to a group of patients, including assessment, planning, and intervention. Delegates tasks to patient care staff including RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. Part of the ESKD healthcare team, participating in decision-making, leadership, and quality improvement activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Expected to perform all duties in line with Fresenius Kidney Care policies and regulations.

• Works under supervision and guidance to collect and analyze patient data.
• Provides hemodialysis therapy and educates patients and families.
• Administers medications as prescribed.
• Acts as a resource for the healthcare team.
• Ensures correct lab procedures and patient care awareness.
• Completes CAP requirements for advancement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Includes direct patient care involving lifting, standing, and interaction with staff and patients in healthcare facilities. May involve travel to other locations.

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting heavy equipment.
• Potential exposure to infectious materials.

SUPERVISION:

Oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge.

• Must meet education and training requirements.
• Requires prior RN experience in hemodialysis.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure and CPR BLS Certification.
• Compliance with state practice requirements.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Entry-level position for RNs with Nephrology Nursing experience.
• Minimum 9 months of RN experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred.
