    Summary



    The primary purposes of this position is to undertake the accessioning and cataloguing of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books and to ensure the safe and orderly storage, access, and transport of those works, including the maintenance of the storage area itself.



    Duties


    As the Collections Manager Assistant you will:

    • Monitor and accurately record the movement of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books to, from, and within the storage areas of the Division of Prints and Drawings.
    • Work with the Registrar's office to coordinate movement of incoming pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books to the storage areas of the Division of Prints and Drawings;
    • organize and maintain paperwork on objects under consideration for acquisition with the curatorial assistant/associate.
    • Be responsible for tracking information and proper storage for works of art on loan or deposit that are stored with the Gallery's collection of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books.
    • Prepares for and assists the Registrar in the annual inventory of a portion of the National Gallery's collection of prints, drawings, and illustrated books, and assists the Registrar in following up on any problems that may arise.
    • Respond to public inquiries about the National Gallery's collection of pre-1900 prints, drawings, and illustrated books and about the proper storage and maintenance of these works according to Gallery guidelines as requested.
    • occasionally assist the study room staff in the preparation, supervision, and teaching of classes, and in retrieving and returning works of art requested by visitors.
