    Summary:

    - The 5th-floor Acute MedicalSurgical unit is a 40-bed comprehensive unit specialized in post-operative care for patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal and urologic issues. It is a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery care, also assisting medically monitored patients and trauma cases from ICU and Emergency Department.

    A Registered Professional Nurse assumes responsibility for patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They also handle patient teaching and supervise ancillary nursing staff, all while upholding professional nursing standards and providing direct and indirect patient care.

    Requirements:

    A. Education/Skills:
    - Graduate from a State Board accredited School of Nursing or equivalent.

    B. Experience:
    - Preferably six (6) months of experience.

    C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
    - Must hold a current RN license or permit to practice nursing in Texas.
    - American Heart Association BLS certification required within two (2) weeks of employment.
