    Lead delivery of acoustic and vibration performance of exhaust systems. Involves setting NVH targets for exhaust system performance, supporting exhaust system design and tuning of acoustic control elements (muffler/resonator). Perform/support exhaust NVH measurements in vehicle and on engine dynamometer test cell.

    Responsibilities
    • Plan and execute exhaust system NVH sign-off.
    • Collaborate with vehicle propulsion NVH engineer to develop targets for tailpipe orifice noise that support delivery of vehicle level propulsion NVH targets. Including vehicle demonstration drives and virtual drives on vehicle simulator.
    • Work with exhaust system D&R engineer to cascade targets into exhaust system ESOW.
    • Requires working with technicians or directly instrumenting vehicles and collecting vibration and sound measurements.
    • Work with exhaust system D&R and supplier engineering team to develop and evaluate tailpipe noise predictions from WAVE 1D CAE models.
    • Work with exhaust system D&R engineer to order parts needed for tuning and sign off.
    • Schedule exhaust NVH tests in Ford AWD Dyno, monitor testing, analyze results and document results in program milestone papers and FEDE.
    • Work with supplier and design and release engineers to resolve NVH issues and document with an 8D.
    • Lead investigation and disposition of exhaust NVH calls from vehicle drive events including engineering and management team drives, launch quality audit drives and voice of the customer fleet issues.
    Qualifications

    Required Experience:
    • BS in mechanical or electrical engineering
    • 2+ years experience with analytical modeling
    Preferred Experience:
    • MS in mechanical or electrical engineering.
    • 4 years experience with exhaust system NVH.
    • Experience testing exhaust NVH systems in vehicles and /or on dynos.
    • Knowledge of NVH and sound quality metrics and use of data collection and analysis software.
    • Understanding of powertrain NVH and methods to combine individual sources and paths to predict overall interior sound.
    • Familiarity with vehicle pass by noise testing.
