    Pipeline Safety & Risk Engineer

    Omaha, NE (onsite)

    6+ Months Project

    Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate various aspects of the integrity management program, including high consequence area identification, threat assessment, risk assessment, preventive and mitigative measures, performance measurement, quality assurance, and reporting.
    • Stay abreast of scientific, technical, and regulatory developments related to integrity management, providing technical input and coordinating the development, implementation, planning, and ongoing maintenance of the integrity management program.
    • Act as a liaison between operations and pipeline safety agencies, providing information, answering questions, and facilitating issue resolution.
    • Coordinate and participate in Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration inspections scheduled by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
    • Coordinate or conduct internal pipeline safety audits.
    • Provide technical input on pipeline safety regulations to engineering, field operations, gas control, and other departments by interpreting rules, codes, and standards.
    • Approve written procedures for strength tests, determine and document maximum allowable operating pressures (MAOP).
    • Conduct population proximity and location analysis to determine class location and high consequence areas.
    • Complete class location studies to determine appropriate action related to location changes.
    • Provide specific training related to pipeline safety compliance.
    • Provide pipeline safety expertise as needed and participate in the development and revision of programs, systems, company operating procedures, and/or engineering standards to ensure compliance with federal pipeline safety regulations and the safe operation of the pipeline.
    • Review and assess the impact of Department of Transportation issued regulations, advisory bulletins, and proposed rulemaking, and coordinate responses from appropriate personnel.
    • Research, evaluate, and/or identify new and alternative technologies to promote safe, reliable, and efficient pipeline operations.
    • Stay current with industry developments, review and/or conduct research for industry-sponsored standards or codes development committees.
    • Evaluate and/or develop proposals to ensure/enhance pipeline integrity.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor s degree in engineering.
    • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices for analysis (pipeline/compression and LNG theory).
    • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete written reports.
    • Broad knowledge of company functions (regulatory, financial, marketing, operations, gas control, etc.).
    • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to recognize, analyze, and recommend alternative solutions to problems and issues.
    • Proficient computer skills with various software applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred) and aptitude necessary to operate software related to work requirements.
    • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
