POSITION PURPOSE:

The Cook is responsible for prepping meals by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients per restaurant recipes. Checking ingredients for freshness, arranging, and garnishing the dishes. You will also oversee ensuring that the kitchen and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes

2. Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish vegetables and other ingredients

3. Check food ingredients for freshness

4. Arrange and garnish dishes

5. Work well under pressure and within the time limit

6. Ensure that the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils are cleaned

7. Rotate, date and label stock

8. Adhering to all food safety procedures

9. Any other duties requested by management

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment, and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be both a team player and self-starter.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

2. Prior experience in related food and beverage service and food preparation positions

Restaurant or customer service experience preferred

Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Working knowledge of sanitation procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance

2. Must be willing to work swing shifts, weekends and holidays as directed by General Manager

3. Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally

4. Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
