    SHIFT AVAILABLE:
    MONDAY - FRIDAY 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Full Time)

    This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week. The two shifts available are Monday-Friday 2p-10p and Saturday-Sunday 8a-10p.

    For any employee working in an LVN role at the San Diego Center for Children, we have an Educational Reimbursement Program that is set up to help with student loans or tuition.


    The primary purpose of this role is to support youth and multidisciplinary staff in the practice of psychiatric services in an outpatient clinic setting.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


    ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Reporting to the Program Manager and Program Psychiatrist, this position provides the appropriate nursing services within the scope of practice by the California Board of Licensed Vocational Nursing.

    Maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of youth. Ensure the personal hygiene and the performance of disease prevention and takes restorative measures.

    Observes clients; records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Program Manager and Psychiatrist of the client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

    Responsible for the determination of whether such signs, symptoms, reactions, behavior or general appearance exhibit abnormal characteristics; and implementation based on observed abnormalities, or appropriate reporting, or referral, or standardized procedures.

    Requests and follow up on medical records from different providers.
    Provides direct support and assistance to Program Psychiatrist in all medication management evaluations.

    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    taking client's vital signs, documentation in client record of vital signs, documentation in client record of medications, completing refill requests for prescribed medications; completing Prior Authorization requests, and managing any laboratory testing requests and results.

    All responsibilities are expected to be completed in a timely manner.
    Communicates effectively with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to provide a cohesive plan of care for patients.
    Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
    Referrals to community primary care physician and/or psychiatry as needed.
    Reviews attendance and discharge criteria of the program with all client's parents/guardians.

    Interact with children, parents/guardians, and family members in a manner which supports the development of therapeutic relationships by applying Trauma Informed principles.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    High School diploma or equivalent

    Must have Vocational Nurse License

    BLS/CPR for healthcare providers

    Must be 21 years of age


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university

    6 months - 1 year of medication administration experience

    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)

    Stand First Aid

    Cerner trained (by San Diego County)
