- Care for well neonates independently with support from a collaborating Attending Neonatologist.
- Care for non-acute NICU infants in collaboration with Attending Neonatologists, residents other APPs while maintaining a high level of autonomy to achieve desired patient outcomes
- Completes daily patient evaluations and assessments. Documents pertinent findings in patient record.
- Orders and interprets radiographic, laboratory and other diagnostic tests
- Obtain medical history and performs comprehensive physical examinations.
- Instructs and counsels patients and families in collaboration with other health team members.
- Performs routine procedures and emergency procedures.
- Delivery room stabilization and management of neonates.
- Writes medication and other medical orders.
- Coordination and management of discharges
- Provide education for NP and PA students, APP Fellows and residents on rotation in the NICU.
- Identifies and participates in research and quality assurance activities, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

ResponsibilitiesA unique opportunity to join the URMC Neonatal APP team as a PNP, NNP or PA.
As part of a growing and dynamic team, you will provide coverage at Highland Hospital (HH) and Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH), though have the option of providing coverage primary at one location.
At HH, you will provide care in newborn nursery and special care nursery.At SMH, care will be provided at the Birth Center and Well Newborn Nursery caring for well babies and non-acute infants at the Level IV Regional Perinatal Center.
This is a busy delivery service with APP attendance at high risk deliveries.Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
Require a Master's degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA ( _National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)_
NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.
The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
