    Position: Marine Rigger

    Department: Operations

    Reports to: Superintendent and Project Manager

    Location: Belle Chase, LA and Offshore.

    Job Summary:

    A Marine Rigger is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient lifting and rigging of heavy loads on maritime vessels. This role involves inspecting, assembling, and securing rigging equipment, as well as coordinating and executing lifting operations. Marine Riggers play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and safety of equipment on ships and offshore structures.

    Summary of Essential Job Functions:

    1. Rigging Operations: Plan, organize, and execute rigging operations for lifting and moving heavy equipment, machinery, and materials on marine vessels.
    2. Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain rigging equipment, including slings, cables, hooks, and shackles, to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
    3. Assembling and Disassembling: Assemble and disassemble rigging gear as per job requirements, ensuring proper configuration and load distribution.
    4. Communication: Coordinate with other crew members, supervisors, and crane operators to ensure effective communication and safe execution of lifting operations.
    5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of rigging inspections, equipment usage, and any incidents or near misses. Complete lift plans and risk assessments as required.
    6. Equipment Handling: Operate various rigging equipment, such as winches, hoists, and cranes, in a safe and efficient manner.
    7. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other maritime professionals, including ship crew, engineers, and project managers, to achieve project goals.

    Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Certified Rigger qualification is preferred.
    • Previous experience as a Marine Rigger or similar role in the maritime industry.
    • Thorough understanding of rigging techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
    • Ability to read and interpret rigging drawings and lift plans.
    • Physical fitness and stamina for manual labor involved in rigging operations.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skill
    • Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and industry standards.
    • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Working Environment: Marine Riggers work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions. They may be required to work at heights and in close proximity to heavy machinery. The role may involve irregular working hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on project requirements.
