Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, administering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed.
This position evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans while ensuring patient education upon discharge.Responsibilities
Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods to promote secretion clearance.
Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
Review and evaluate patients' chest x-rays to determine further needs.
Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
Perform tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
Monitor, record, and report test results while ensuring adherence to lab policies and procedures.
Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Utilize and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment, ensuring the device is functional.
Document all treatments and patient responses accurately in respiratory care records and charts.
Communicate efficiently with healthcare team members about therapy efficiency and patient progress.
Ensure accurate billing and charging related to respiratory therapy services.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Valid Respiratory Therapist license and relevant certifications as required.
