    JOB SUMMARY:


    The Restorative Aide position is to provide rehabilitative and restorative care to patients to maximize their potential in a manner conducive to their comfort and safety.


    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
    To perform this job, an individual must accomplish each essential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.


    • Perform range of motion exercises as assigned and in accordance with patient's needs
    • Ambulate or assist with ambulation of patients
    • Assist nursing staff with bed to chair positioning
    • Supervise the feeding program to ensure adequate food and fluid intake
    • Routinely review work assignments and schedules to update or change task objectives
    • Apply hand splints, hand cones, leg braces, etc. as prescribed and assigned
    • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning and transporting patients into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
    • Accompany patients to various medical facilities for appointments, etc.
    • Introduce newly admitted or newly transferred patients to their roommate(s) if any, as well as to other patients and to co-workers as appropriate
    • Inventory, identify and help store patient's personal possessions daily
    • Assist with caring for patients' eyeglasses, hearing aids, prostheses, etc.
    • Assist patients prepare for activity and social programs
    • Observe, monitor and intervene for availability and reachability of bedside call signal as well as cleanliness of patients' water pitchers, drinking glasses, straws and other bedside items
    • Serve between meals, bedtime and other nutritional snacks
    • Perform routine housekeeping duties related to patient care
    • Clean used equipment such as utensils, thermometers, etc.
    • Attend patient care planning and staff meetings
    • Other duties as assigned

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Report immediately any symptoms, complications or problems with splints, cones, or other devices
    • Demonstrate proper use of whirlpool and safety techniques in independent transfers as well as correct application of safety restraints
    • Maintain proper records in a timely manner
    • Document condition changes
    • Report accidents and incidents when they occur
    • Report to supervisor any complaints and grievances made by patients, families, visitors, agencies, etc.
    • Communicate with co-worker at all levels to adequately meet the needs of patients
    • Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor and intervene or report unsafe conditions in the facility
    • Maintain privacy and confidentiality or records, conditions, and other information relating to patients, employees and the facility
    • Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures
    • Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients' personal and health care needs
    • Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training and educational classes
    • Assist and direct visitors as appropriate
    • Successful completion of required training
    • Handle multiple priorities effectively
    • Reliable transportation

    Required Computer Software/Equipment used:

    • Various operating systems
    • EMR software applications
    • Allscripts EHR software system applications
    • Standard office equipment
    • Microsoft Suite applications
    • Desktop, laptop and/or iPad
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Standard medical equipment

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience:

    o Minimum of six (6) months experience working in a nursing facility, hospital, facility health agency or other health care facility working in rehabilitation of patients.


    • License/Certification/Education:
    o High School diploma or equivalent, preferred

    o Completion of an approved Nurses' Aide Training Program

    o Basic Restorative Aide Certificate

    Advanced Restorative Aide Certificate preferred

    o Current CPR certification

    o Current State of Tennessee Driver's license

    o Current automobile liability insurance according to company policy


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Does not have supervisory responsibilities
    • Supervisor frequently determines priorities
    • Occasionally needs manager's direction

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Audio-Visual: Hearing: Good
    • Ability to lift to 40 pounds
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
    • Work is typically performed in a long-term care facility environment; well-lit; comfortable temperature-controlled
    • Above-average conversational noise is frequent
    • Position may require flexible hours, unscheduled overtime or occasional week-end work
    • Travel may be required
