    Radio One is looking for the best and brightest Assistant Chief Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Raleigh.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To routinely and competently perform maintenance of all the technical systems and equipment that include:
    ·

    IT Systems installation, maintenance and support. Maintain local business network, and digital media network, WIFI access points and provide user desktop support. Must have a good working knowledge of, and be able to repair PC's, servers and other network equipment.
    ·

    Wide Orbit automation configuration and maintenance including programming for automated content.
    ·

    AM and FM transmitter equipment installation and maintenance including STL infrastructure, audio processing and remote control.
    ·


    Studio installation and maintenance including audio routers, consoles, digital playback systems, PC's, TV's and any other specialized equipment utilized including specialized office and studio telephone systems and technology.

    This includes knowledge of POTs, SIP, PRI, ISDN, VoIP and AoIP protocols.

    Work with other department staff members on common technical matters such as remote broadcasts and special events. Maintain remote broadcast equipment and train others in the use of that equipment.
    ·

    Installation and maintenance of satellite receivers and point-to-point wireless links and a good working knowledge IP audio CODECS.
    ·


    To competently assist in the design and installation of new equipment on a project basis as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

    ·

    To provide backup to the Chief Engineer when he is unavailable.
    ·

    Ability to work after hours and be on call 24/7 on occasion for emergencies or scheduled maintenance

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations
    Computer literacy in applicable software packages (Microsoft OS and Office Suite, Scott Studios/Wide Orbit automation, etc.)
    Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment to the component level
    Ability to work independently to troubleshoot and repair AM transmitting facility and class C FM transmitting facilities
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Problem-solving ability and skill in prioritizing
    Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators, record keeping and level 1 maintenance
    Knowledge of telephone systems and protocols including POTS, ISDN, T1, DSL and PRI circuits
    Interact with management and staff at all levels
    Ability to multi-task and handle pressures and deadlines
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Associate or technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcasting Technology or related field; or equivalent level of experience. Must possess valid state driver's license. Must provide required proof of personal vehicle insurance.
