    TITLE: Instructional Technologist

    DEPARTMENT: Academy for Teaching Excellence

    DIVISION: Academic Affairs

    STATUS: Non-Exempt; Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Hourly rate: $30.22 to $31.32

    General Description:

    The Instructional Technologist aids faculty and students in utilizing technological tools for teaching, testing, scholarly activities, and student assessment across different platforms. Understanding technology as a teaching tool is crucial. This position demands full-time commitment of 35 hours per week to the College.

    Functions:

    1. Help faculty develop, design, and deliver course materials and educational activities.
    2. Prepare and create instructional technology training and materials to assist faculty, students, and administration.
    3. Offer frontline support for faculty and students in using technologies across various courses.
    4. Support the College's mission.
    5. Exemplify and encourage professional conduct towards the College and its stakeholders.

    Organizational Relationships:

    1. Report to the Senior Instructional Technologist.
    2. Collaborate with faculty, academic deans, directors, educational administrators, IT staff, systems administrator, and educational technology personnel.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Support faculty in developing course materials, educational activities, and technology training.
    2. Provide one-on-one training to faculty on LMS (D2L Brightspace) and its features.
    3. Participate in software training module planning, design, and implementation.
    4. Engage in faculty mentoring and new faculty orientations.
    5. Contribute to College committees and task forces as needed.
    6. Stay updated on new instructional technology and faculty development opportunities through research and collaborations.
    7. Complete other assigned projects and tasks.

    Participation in Departmental Responsibilities:

    1. Coordinate faculty development activities for academic programs.
    2. Identify faculty development needs in collaboration with academic deans, directors, and faculty.
    3. Establish and maintain a schedule of training opportunities for faculty.
    4. Organize on-campus or virtual inservices, external speakers, and teaching forums.
    5. Evaluate faculty development programs with feedback.

    Methods of Accountability:

    1. Communicate with the Senior Instructional Technologist verbally and in writing.
    2. Receive feedback from faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders.
    3. Undergo an annual performance review by the Senior Instructional Technologist.

    8. Demonstrate problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.

    Education, Training, and Experience:

    1. Bachelor's degree in education, Instructional Technology, or related field preferred.
    2. One to three years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    3. Proficiency in Learning Management Systems, especially D2L Brightspace.
    4. Ability to train faculty and staff in web-based tools/applications.
    5. Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
    6. Knowledge of cloud technologies is advantageous.
