As a Geotechnical Analyst - Underground Mining, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing underground excavation stability within the company's operations. Under general supervision, you will oversee critical functions related to ground support design, stability monitoring, and geomechanical analysis. This role will be pivotal in ensuring a safe working environment through the implementation of robust geomechanical practices and methodologies.

Focus:

• Develop and review ground support designs for underground excavations to ensure a safe working environment based on relevant geological and stress conditions, utilizing empirical (Q or RMR), kinematic (unWedge), and stress (RS3, phase 2) based analysis methods.
• Manage and review underground excavation stability data collection, analysis, and remedial work, including monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, and geologic structures.
• Disseminate precise, timely, and pertinent information on underground excavation stability and geomechanics to personnel at the mine and site, employing suitable channels such as reports and presentations.
• Conduct inspections of underground excavations and communicate the results effectively.
• Oversee contracted ground remediation projects, including activities such as chemical grout injection or liner application.
• Actively pursue enhancements to improve the underground excavation stability program of the mine.
• Develop, maintain, and implement strategic plans to enhance the mines underground excavation stability program.
• Offer supervision and review of geomechanical projects involving external consultants.
• Manage overall property slope management functions for existing slopes around surface facilities.
• Utilize appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and geotechnical data analysis tools, including Mintecs MineSight (or equivalent) and RocScience software (unWedge, Phase2, RS3, Dips).

Skill Set:

• Bachelors degree in Geological, Geotechnical or an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and underground excavation stability, OR Masters degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and underground excavation stability.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with software tools such as MS Office, MineSight, AutoCAD, and RocScience software (unWedge, Phase2, RS3, Dips).
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to geomechanics and underground excavation stability.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a challenging environment, which may include exposure to extreme conditions and the operation of heavy machinery and the use of personal protective equipment.
