Job description

The Neshaminy School District is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Mechanic – Electrician to join our Facilities Department. This position is responsible for performing specialized electrical trade functions related to the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical systems and equipment across the district and district buildings. This role ensures the safe and reliable transmission and use of electricity in all district facilities to support an efficient learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with codes and safety standards.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on electrical panels, wiring, lighting, and power distribution systems.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using appropriate testing devices.
Knowledge and understanding of Access Control Security System.
Knowledge and understanding of Security Surveillance Systems.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures as needed to restore proper function.
Assist with planning and execution of electrical projects, including new installations and upgrades to support building and program needs.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff to complete cross-trade assignments when required.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
Respond to emergency electrical issues and perform other duties as assigned to support district operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of technical or trade school training in the electrical field required.
Valid electrician license or journeyman certification.
Electrical background/experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair; school or institutional experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Working capacity with computers and computerized energy programs.
Skilled in the use of tools, equipment, and testing devices required for electrical work.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
Valid driver's license required.

Work Environment

This position requires work across multiple school buildings and facilities within the district. The role involves both indoor and outdoor tasks and may require occasional evening or weekend availability for emergencies.

Salary will be commensurate with experience for an Apprentice Level or Journeyman Level Rate.
