    General Summary:

    Under assessment and direction of the Staff Nurse (RN) and according to established policies and procedures, performs patient care activities in order to assist health care providers in performing various technical and clerical procedures in the patient care area. The point of care technician assists with the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors.

    Essential Functions:
    • Customer Service/Patient Experience:
      • a. Greets customers courteously
      • b. Identifies self and area and uses professional telephone etiquette
      • c. Relays messages timely and accurately
      • d. Acts as resource person to staff and support services
      • e. Uses electronic medical record, documents within forms and scans as appropriate.
    • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide patient care under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
    • Accurately obtain and record patient specific data.A
    • Utilizes service recovery techniques when appropriate and escalates patient/visitor issues when necessary.
    • Transfers and discharge patient:
      • a. Lifts, transfers, transport patients safely.
    • Attends all required safety/emergency/infection control training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
    • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
    • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
    • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
    • Completes tasks delegated by the RN.
    • Demonstrates competency in device usage.
    • Demonstrates competency in the skills of patient of care testing.
