- Hold a graduate degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited postsecondary institution, or be willing to participate in a program to complete such a degree within a specified time period
- Have a minimum of six years of successful classroom teaching or administrative experience, preferably in a Classical Christian school
- Possess an active classical teacher or administrator certification recognized by SCL, ACCS, or equivalent or be willing to participate in a program to complete such a certification within a specified time period
- Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy with an enthusiasm to continue learning modern technologies appropriate to job functions
- Maintain current infant/child CPR and first aid certification
- Embody an enthusiastic commitment to the classical model of education as a visionary, encourager, and a self-starter with a high energy level
- Sign and live by the school's Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality (attached)
- Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to "train up a child in the way he should go" (Prov. 22:6, ESV)
- Demonstrate genuine sensitivity toward staff, parents, volunteers, and children, and the ability to interact effectively with them

- When requested by the Director of Admissions or HOS, interview new Lower School students to evaluate for admissions
- Perform daily walk-throughs to monitor facilities and students
- Assist in any necessary capacity in aid to the Head of School

- Establish and maintain a tickler file of monthly activities
- Work with HOS to plan, coordinate, and oversee Lower School schedules, including field trips
- Plan and lead professional development activities for Lower School teachers and support staff
- Oversee administration of the Lower School testing schedule
- Lower School Chapel: coordinate speakers, work with music director to ensure program continuity, and present information as needed
- Organize the daily meeting "Fish Bowl" (prayer time) from 7:25 am to 7:35 am
- Assist in master schedule planning
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee morning duty and After Care supervision at Lower School
- Oversee the carline to ensure it functions properly
- Review and submit recommendations for changes to CCS handbook and policy/personnel handbook
- Update substitute handbook and coordinate substitute teachers (update approved substitute list, recruit new substitutes, interview candidates, and facilitate training)
- Oversee the substitute planning notebooks
- Identify new areas needing standardized policies/procedures and work with appropriate personnel to create and implement those policies/procedures
- Work with HOS, teachers and staff on events: New Parent Orientation, New Teacher Orientation, Grandparents Day, National Day of Prayer Activities, Lessons and Carols, School-Wide Spelling Bee, Lower School poetry recital, Spring Concerts JK-1 and programs), Lower School Awards program
- Coordinate Lower School class lists JK-6
- Assign rooms to Lower School faculty
- Assist in coordinating the summer reading list with HOS, Academic Dean and Classical Instructional Specialist
- Academics
- Review LS report cards and comments before sending out
- Visit classrooms regularly to ensure effective classically sound instruction, best teaching practices, and student engagement
- Evaluate new teachers at least twice during the first two quarters
- Observe and evaluate Lower School teachers and specials teachers (Latin, art, choir, music, library/reading and PE) at least once per semester
- Collect and review annual professional development plans and set performance goals
- Collect and review weekly lesson plans to ensure Classically sound pedagogy
- Lead, coach, and exhort teachers to deliver excellence in instruction and classroom management
- Provide oversight to the Lower School Interventional and Specials Staff
- FACTS / RENWEB: ensure grades updated weekly, review report cards for comments and grades, address issues with teachers, ensure appropriate weights, suggest remediation, review department staff lesson plans
- Attend and support teachers at bi-weekly departmental meetings
- Parent Student Relations
- Set up and attend parent requested meetings with teachers/administrators
- Enforce dress, discipline, and attendance guidelines
- Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems
- Discipline students in the Lower School regarding academic and social concerns
- Coordinate "Room Moms"
- Coordinate with Parent – Student Foundation (PSF) for upcoming year (leadership roles, committees, tasks, and needs)
- Professional and Spiritual Standards
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel
- Maintain accurate personnel records
- Build relationships with like-minded institutions to benefit the school; promote high standards and biblical truth for all students and staff

- Working hours: 7:20 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday during the normal school year (Aug 1 to about first week of June); Summer hours 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Tuesday to Thursday; may adjust as needed
