    SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) Naval Air Systems Command, and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities.

    We are currently looking to hire an Electrostatic Painter (Coating Specialist) at our St. Inigoes, MD facilities to perform fabrication and coating assignments of substantial variety and complexity on project articles, support structures, and equipment.

    The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well):

    • Prepare surfaces and apply aircraft, aerospace, general and/or powder coatings as required by item design engineering specifications.
    • Perform coating operations within an environmentally controlled coating facility and "paint booth" while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Identify and select appropriate coating application equipment based on design specifications and ensure on-hand quantities of required coating materials in compliance with state, federal, and DoD/DoN HAZMAT regulations.
    • Perform as a member of a project work team.
    • Fabricate unconventional, one-of-a-kind items, systems, apparatus, and support structures in support of experimental project test articles.
    • Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, plans, and technical publications.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
    • Follow and enforce all safety standards within the Coating Facility.
    • Must work well with others, as part of a team.
    • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on assigned machines, as well as maintenance of tool inventories and procurement of equipment, supplies, tools, and consumables as required.
    • Other tasks, as required to support customer requirements.

    Work Conditions:

    • Conditions will vary.
    • Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120.
    • Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
    • Overtime is a requirement of this position.
    Requirements:

    Education/Experience/Skills:

    • High school education or equivalent.
    • Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in preparing, priming, painting, and coating various surfaces, to include, but not limited to, aluminum, steel, composites, etc.
    • Formal paint & final finish training, aircraft or otherwise, desired.
    • Fabrication and mechanical repair/assembly experience highly desired.
    • Skilled with precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
    • Must have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, program requirements, and material coating specifications.
    • Experience with various types of coating applications, tools, and equipment, including paint booth operations.
    • Must be capable of developing modifications such that program requirements are satisfied without jeopardizing safety of operations.
    • Must possess the ability to work tactfully with professional engineers, technicians, and management staff on all levels of effort.
    • Exceptional customer service required.
    • Prior forklift and/or overhead crane experience a plus.
    • Current Maryland Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
    • U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
    • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
