    Job Summary
    The Laboratory Instructor is responsible for assisting faculty in teaching labs associated with specific courses in the Sciences.
    Laboratory Instructors will coordinate, set-up, implement, and clean up of the lab portion of the course that is required. Laboratory Instructors will also assist faculty in teaching and guiding students through lab exercises. Other duties assigned will include:
    • Grading of laboratory reports and exams.
    • Hiring and supervising student assistants.
    • Designing and testing of lab experiments and equipment.

    Salary Range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $58,000- Maximum $65,000



    Education/Skills Requirements
    Required:
    • A Bachelor's degree in Biology or Ecology
    • Excellent oral and written communications skill
    • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to provide individual and group instruction with sensitivity to different learning styles
    • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College's Motor Vehicle Use Policy.

    Preferred:

    • Master's or PhD degree in Biology or Ecology


    Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
    Required:
    • Experience with discipline specific laboratory techniques at both introductory and advanced laboratories.
    • Prior experience teaching, preferably in a laboratory situation, or field sciences.

    Preferred:

    • Familiarity with computational tools for data analysis (e.g. MATLAB or Mathematica) highly valued..


    Standard Work Days and Hours
    • The standard hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm during the academic year.
    • Some weekends or evening hours may be required.
    • The anticipated start date the for candidate selected will be on or after January 9, 2024.
