    Job Description

    The Biotherapeutics group within AbbVie Discovery is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a strong understanding of therapeutic discovery and machine learning to join the Cell and Functional Biology team at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC). The ABC site, based in Worcester, MA, offers the unique setting where Biologics drug discovery, development and manufacturing coexist in one location. Our team interacts with multidisciplinary groups across AbbVie and is focused on developing solutions for Immunology, Neurology, Virology, Oncology, Eye and Aesthetic diseases and conditions. We employ innovative approaches, advanced multiplex screening assays and automation platforms to empower biotherapeutic discovery against complex targets.



    As an integral part of the group, the ideal candidate will:

    Conceptualize and implement machine learning and AI algorithms to predict and optimize protein properties, focused on designing safe therapeutic solutions.

    Contribute experimentally to molecular and cellular biology including assay design and optimization.

    Take an active role in ML/AI roadmap development for novel antibody designs, driving information system infrastructure readiness for binding and functional assay data, and establishment of best practices in advanced knowledge base analytics.

    Develop close cross-functional relationships with data and small molecule discovery scientists for partnered solutions to common challenges.

    Demonstrate scientific excellence through dedication to multiple projects in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment

    Significant Work Activities -Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)


    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    BS, MS or PhD with BS), 8-10 (MS), 0-4 (PhD) years of industry or academic experience

    Experience with wet lab immunological assays (ELISA, Flow cytometry, Functional/Reporter)

    Experience with generative modeling of biological systems/data

    Strong attention to quality and details when exercising organizational, documentation and interpersonal skills

    Proven flexibility to deal with changing timelines and shifting work priorities

    Desirable:

    Experience with advanced automation platforms and programming

    Experience with high-throughput biotherapeutic screening applications

    Experience with external collaborations and partnerships
