    Summary:

    The Human Resources Generalist is a point of contact for all HR-related duties within Doerfer Companies. This position owns recruiting/sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, employee training and development, and employee engagement/retention for the Doerfer Companies US locations.

    This position serves as a backup for benefits, payroll, leave management, safety, compliance, as well as assisting with payroll, benefits and leave management related questions.

    This position also assists the Mexico location as needed.


    Essential Functions:


    • Acts as an on-site HR point of contact in Waverly, IA, and a virtual point of contact for other Doerfer Companies for all HR-related questions and concerns.
    • Manages all aspects of recruiting for the US Doerfer Companies locations, including job posting, sourcing, screening, reviewing resumes, performing phone screens and in-person interviews.
    • Stays abreast of recruiting trends and best practices.
    • Works closely with managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company's hiring needs for each position, and meet competitive hiring goals and expectations.
    • Manages the overall interview, selection, and closing process.
    • Performs reference checks as needed.
    • Facilitates the offer process with the Human Resources Manager by extending the offer and negotiating employment terms.
    • Facilitate post-offer physicals and launching background checks.
    • Manages onboarding and new hire process for Doerfer Companies.
    • Assists in performance management with managers throughout the year and during the annual performance evaluation process.
    • Assists with reviewing Doerfer Companies payroll and serves as a backup to payroll.
    • Assists with maintaining employee information in HRM system and makes necessary changes when needed.
    • Assists with safety program and OSHA training at all Doerfer Companies to drive safety as a priority and work incentive.
    • Assists HR Manager with Worker's Compensation reporting and claims, and administration of FMLA, STD, and LTD claims for all Doerfer Companies.
    • Assists with benefits enrollments as needed, and assists employees year-round with any benefit-related questions or concerns.
    • Assists with yearly benefits renewals and open enrollment preparation and meetings.
    • Assists with the retention and purging of Human Resources files based on the retention schedules.
    • Assists HR Manager with compliance, updating policies and procedures.
    • Assists with employee relations issues, investigations, disciplines and terminations.
    • Actively advocates for all Doerfer Companies initiatives.
    • Assists in training and audits to support Quality Management System compliance.
    • Assists with yearly payroll, 401k and work comp audits.
    • Provides reports requested from various HR systems as requested.
    • Assists the HR team with daily HR activities not listed as needed.
    • Engages in HR development and continuing education regularly.
    • Travels on an as-needed basis to Illinois, Texas and other Doerfer Companies locations.
    • Travels on an as-needed basis for Corporate Human Resources projects or events.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
    • Additional work hours as needed and required.
    Requirements


    Required:


    • Three years or more of Human Resources experience.
    • Familiar with a wide variety of sourcing avenues.
    • Working knowledge of applicant tracking and HRIS and payroll systems.
    • Comfortable making decisions independently.
    • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

    Preferred:


    • Two years of recruiting experience preferred.
    • Two years of working experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish.
    • Valid passport, or ability to obtain, and ability to travel to Mexico location as needed.
    • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
