- Initiates and receives communications from Nursing Unit Director or designated Charge Nurse and Nursing Unit staff verbally, via telephone, mail, pneumatic tube, and computer system.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge to effectively communicate with patients or their families to meet the needs of the population served.
- Assembles new charts, records specified clinical information, files reports, imprints forms in clinical record, checks discharge chart for completion by nurse responsible, maintains patient records.
- Operates computer for transcribing diagnostic orders and other computer transactions as resented.
- Maintains pertinent hospital data and records.
- Orders and maintains supplies for the nursing unit.
- Responds and contributes to written and oral communications.
- Actively participates in all Codes and drills as scheduled.
- Attends, participates, and supports in-service education programs.
- Complies with departmental and hospital- wide policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties within job scope as requested by supervisor.
- High school graduate.
- Certificate of satisfactory completion of a formal program of instruction as a Unit Clerk preferred.
- Good customer-service and communication skills.
