Job description
The Village of Brookfield Parks and Recreation Department is now hiring for Tots Prep Preschool Substitute Teacher. The Tots Prep Preschool program operates at the Water Tower facility (3840 Maple Avenue) with small ratios (1:6). We are seeking qualified, kind, energetic, health and safety conscious people who have a genuine love for working with children.
SALARY
$ $17.00 per hour DOQ
HOURS
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Lunch Buddies: Some classes have an extra 90 minutes of class for the Lunch Buddies program. Notification will be provided if we require a substitute teacher during the Lunch Buddies program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry 40 pounds.
- Must be able to see and hear students, in case of an emergency.
- Must be able to fold, tear, cut, and tape paper. Must be able to trace and print.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- This is an on-call position. While we will make every effort to provide at least 24 hours notice when coverage is needed, there may be occasions when notice is given the same morning, with as little as two hours advance notice.
- The Substitute Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in ensuring the safety, supervision, and effective management of daily preschool classroom activities and participants.
- Display a positive and professional attitude while performing duties and assisting the Lead Teacher.
- Implement portions of the daily program as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Aide the Lead Teacher with behavior management issues and procedures.
- Assist with the daily sanitizing and cleaning duties.
- Follow all safety and emergency procedures including the evacuation plan.
- Follow Village and departmental work rules, procedures, and policies.
