    Job Summary:


    Performs A Variety Of Testing On Blood and Body Fluids To Provide Information Used In The Diagnosis Of Disease States.

    Evaluation of Laboratory Results With Regards To Accuracy And Appropriateness.


    Essential Job Functions:
    Follows All Laboratory and Hospital Safety Policies.
    Operates All Department Equipment Safely And According To Procedure.
    Performs Preventative Maintenance And Troubleshoots Instrument Failures To Best Of Ability Alerting Proper Personnel Of Equipment Problems.
    Follows All Department QC Procedures And Troubleshoots QC Failures With Proper Documentation.
    Maintains Technical Competency and Seeks Clarification When Necessary.
    Effectively Utilizes All Necessary LIS Functions.
    Assists Supervisor In Maintaining Adequate Inventory Of Reagents And Supplies Necessary For Testing.

    Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff DevelopmentPerforms Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department.

    Accounts For All Specimens On The Pending Log And Relays Courses Of Action To Other Section Shifts.

    Prioritizes Activities To Accommodate Workflow FluctuationsQualificationsQualificationsEducational / Minimum requirements:
    BS in Medical Technology (MT) , AS in Medical Technology (MLT), or Bachelor's in Chemical, Physical or Biological Sciences; experience in a clinical laboratory preferred State/Federal Mandated Licensure or

    Certification Requirements:
    ASCP Certification preferred

    Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
    General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.


    Physical Requirements:
    Walking, standing, sitting, bending required. Must work under the stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands requiring accuracy.

    Position requires ability to constantly lift light objects less than 20 lbs., perform moderately difficult manipulative skills, arm-hand steadiness, and hand-eye coordination skills; walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background.
