    Description
    Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time Database Administrator, Jr., within our Information Technology Department. This individual will be responsible for working on one or more projects within and between the Banner Services and Student Affairs offices and overseeing progress toward goals and objectives. This position is full-time/exempt.

    Responsibilities:
    • Working on one or more projects within and between the Banner Services and Student Affairs offices
    • Assist with management of multiple databases to meet the information needs of the institution including designing, security, implementing, and maintaining Ellucian Banner Student database management system (DBMS)
    • Maintaining a consistent, high quality, customer -focused orientation when conducting business and providing services to all internal and external customers.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the Banner SIS system.
    • Assist in the integration of solutions using third party software into the Banner SIS
    • Assist in applying patches/upgrades to the Banner SIS
    • Communicate effectively between internal and external customers.
    • Assist with Banner SIS day-to-day operations.
    • Assist with training and technical assistance to users.
    • Participate in implementation of project work plan and schedules for the development and support of systems.
    • Conduct complex and/or comprehensive research using a variety of resources to complete, prepare, assemble, process and/or generate reports, processes, and other documentation, or to respond to inquiries, questions, problems, or requests.
    • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars and conferences; applies pertinent new knowledge to performance of responsibilities.
    • Develop, maintain, and foster effective working relationships.
    • Manage one or more complex projects with full accountability for outcome.
    • Prepare project timelines, reports, and other documents for management, staff, and outside customers as requested.
    • Assist in the development, review, revision, interpretation, and/or implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
    • Serve as administrator and Web Master for Columbus Technical College's website.
    • Act as liaison between multiple parties to identify solutions to problems.
    • Analyze data, identifies gaps in plans versus actual, and recommends or implements solutions.
    • Oversee efficiency of projects and implement changes as needed to meet goals.
    • Maintain required documentation.
    • Provide user training and technical assistance.
    • Travel as required for meetings and training.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Competencies:
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and self-starter attitude.
    • Use operating system and database tools to troubleshoot and resolve operational and integration issues.
    • Use SQL to build and maintain complex queries/procedures for data analysis and data extraction.
    • Create databases and database objects such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, functions, and stored procedures.
    • Administration of Web Application Services – Install, upgrade, and patch systems including managing security and assuring adequate capacity.
    • Perform database and application builds in various production and non-production environments using established methods and procedures (SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripts).
    • Experience managing and maintaining relational database management systems (e.g. Oracle).
    • Experience applying upgrades and patches to Ellucian's Banner System.
    • Experience applying upgrades and patches to Oracle.
    • Experience applying upgrades and patches to Oracle Web Logic and Tomcat Application Servers.
    • Experience working with Windows 2012 Server, Linux, Pro*C, Oracle, SQL, PL/ SQL, Oracle Server Management tools.
    • Experience planning and organizing projects.
    • Excellent Oral and written communication
    • Excellent interpersonal relations and effective problem-solving methods.
    • Experience analyzing data and situations for accurate assessment.
    • Knowledge of the college philosophy and objectives as they relate to performance.
    • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • CompTIA DataSys+ Certificate *OR* Associate degree in a related field *and* one (1) year of experience working with DBMS design, implementation and support using Oracle, Microsoft SGL, or other industry standard DBMS.

    • One (1) year of experience working with DBMS design, implementation and support using Oracle, Microsoft SGL, or other industry standard DBMS.
    Note: Experience may substitute for the certifications on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 3+ years' experience administering Ellucian Banner systems
    • Proficient in writing Oracle SQL queries
    • Experience with Nebraska bookstore software
    Salary/Benefits:
    Salary is $50,000 - $55,000 annually. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, and the Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
