Manufacturing Engineer Position Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the production team by applying their knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or metal fabricating systems with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency to deliver custom-built fire apparatus

Opportunities are available in both the Fabrication and Assembly divisions of the company.

Essential Job Functions:

· Utilize SolidWorks to develop aids for manufacturing.

· Interpret and convey design intent to fabricators and assemblers.

· Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures to deliver consistency and quality.

· Promote and lead Continuous Improvement and Safety initiatives.

· Identify root cause manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions to reduce scarp.

· Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve part "Design for Manufacturability".

· Track and audit work center efficiencies and adherence to standards.

· Research new products and equipment that would enhance safety and efficiency.

· Support Manufacturing, Quality, and Design departments as necessary to answer questions and resolve problems.

· Attend meetings with sales and customers to ensure customer specifications are completed.

· Ensure apparatus complies with guidelines established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other productivity software
• Proficient with SolidWorks 3-D modeling package.

Desired Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of electrical circuits.
• Understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Experience with metal forming and machining.
• Experience with GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
• Understanding of geometric tolerances and AWS weld symbols.
