    Description

    Elford is seeking a Field Layout Engineer to be a key part of our Quality Control & Assurance programs. This position will collaborate daily with our operations teams, quality control manager and VDC team and primarily be focused on verification of subcontractor layout and layout of our self-performed work.

    Core responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
    • Perform field layout tasks and operate a total station for accurate site measurements and data collection.
    • Collaborate with the project team to ensure project requirements are met with a high level of precision and efficiency.
    • Verify work in place is in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and the Contact Documents.
    • Provide solutions for construction layout challenges.
    • Hold responsibility for the proper transport, storage, maintenance and calibration of the equipment. Ensure maintenance and calibration schedules are followed.
    • Collaborate with the VDC team to ensure that survey data is properly transmitted for historical records, as-builts etc. The ability to utilize AutoCAD to prepare construction layout documents and coordinate with the design team for modifications and updates is desired.
    • Operate laser scanner to collect existing and/or new as-built conditions for as-built drawings, coordination of new work, etc.
    • Operate GPR unit to locate obstructions (rebar, conduit, etc.) encased in existing concrete.
    • Ability to fly a drone and hold the FAAs Certified Remote Pilot designation (or the ability to obtain) is an added plus.

    Familiarity with the following equipment and software is desired:

    • Trimble Robotic Total Stations & Laser Scanners
    • Trimble FieldLink – Advanced
    • Trimble Connect AR
    • Autodesk Construction Cloud / Build / PlanGrid
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • BlueBeam

    A Highschool Diploma is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is beneficial.
