We are seeking an

Information Security Systems Engineer

(ISSE) supporting our NASA customer based at Wallops Island Flight Facility in VA. This position is a hybrid remote position, with occasional travel to NASA sites as needed; if local to the Wallops Island Flight Facility area, commute to the NASA site and other NASA locations will be necessary to support customer meetings, and a candidate who is local or within commuting distance to the site is preferred.

As prime contractor on thePeraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE)contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks.

Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies.

In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles.

You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

This position will provide IT Security Engineering, in support of NASA ground station development, including the following:

Build and maintain Security Systems by designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect against cyber-attacks, unauthorized access, and loss.

Coordinate and support security assessments and code audits to identify vulnerabilities.

Develop and present engineering documentation for the installation of new and/or modification of existing electronic systems that meet defined requirements.

Ensure that technical, budget and schedule requirements are met through new or modified designs.
Oversee system modifications to ensure implementation is executed according to design documentation.
Develop and execute test plans and procedures.
Maintain system documentation to accurately reflect the configuration baseline.
Provide troubleshooting assistance in isolating and correcting unusual hardware problems.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
A BS degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or related Engineering degree, and 8+ years of related experience; a MS degree and 6+ years of experience; without a degree, 12+ years of experience may be considered with AS/technical training
Experience with designing, building, installing, and testing cybersecurity systems
Demonstrated ability to create technical documents and deliver presentations clearly and concisely
Understanding of NIST 800-53A and NPR 2810.1A security controls
Familiarity with Splunk, RedSeal, and other security software packages

Security clearance:
the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires a US citizenship.

Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects; preferred experience with NASA Space Relay (SR) and Direct to Earth (DTE) Networks
Have a working, fundamental knowledge of networking and system administration concepts
Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to work under challenging timelines with ambiguity
Experience with generating and interpreting detailed technical drawings in Visio or AutoCAD
An active Secret clearance.
