    Vancord is seeking a security engineer to join our team. As a member of our Defensive Security team, you will work with our engineering team and SOC to deliver secure solutions to our clients. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for securing organizations. Ideally, you are eager to push your own boundaries by pursuing training, getting involved in new projects, and are comfortable working with our clients to achieve their goals.     About Vancord:

    Vancord provides managed services in both infrastructure and security spaces; as a member of the security engineering team, you will be involved in the project pipeline from presales engineering and project scoping, to testing, and final delivery of high-quality services and reports for both technical and executive audiences.

    Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate and analyze results discovered from vulnerability assessments and provide prioritized recommendations for remediation.
    • Evaluate and analyze results from security assessments of cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, Google Workspaces, etc.
    • Create and deliver technical findings reports that clearly and effectively communicate the identified vulnerabilities and their impact.
    • Review new vulnerabilities identified from threat analysis sources and communicate high impact vulnerabilities to our clients.
    • Provide support to SOC concerning new detection review, mentorship, and triage assistance in the scope of creating new or improving our existing detection logic.
    • Create playbooks and repeatable processes to ensure consistency of response and distribution of knowledge.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship for junior members of Vancord and our partner teams.
    • Interface with clients and staff with professionalism and an overall positive attitude.
    • Collabrate with internal teams to ensure the timely remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
    • Stay current with the latest security techniques, tools, and technologies.

    Required Qualifications:

    • At least 2 years of experience working in cybersecurity or information technology.
    • A track record of self-education and an ability to adapt comfortably to change is necessary.
    • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning/management tools such as Nessus, Qualys, etc.
    • Experience with scripting and/or programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, C#, etc.
    • Experience with Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems. Comfortable performing tasks from within a command line interface (Bash, zsh, PowerShell, Fish, etc.)
    • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Remote candidates must have a stable internet connection and a dedicated workspace to hold customer and internal meetings. Candidates will be expected to appear on camera during these meetings.

    Nice to haves:

    • Relevant infrastructure, cloud, or security certifications that align with industry expectations.
    • A background in software development at any scale.
    • A background in managing server infrastructure, designing/deploying campus-sized networks, or a history of cloud infrastructure management.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft's Defender suite and M365 service.

    Base pay range: $90,000-$120,000 USD

    Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
