    Seeking: Assistant Professor of Theatrical Costume Design

    School: The Conservatory

    Type: Faculty, Non-Tenure Track, Full-Time

    Reports to: Program Chair of Technical Theatre

    The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, faculty position. The Conservatory offers a three-year, two summer BFA in Theatrical Costume Design. This position includes both academic and design responsibilities. In addition to the BFA in Theatrical Costume Design, the Conservatory offers a BFA in Technical Theatre/Stage Management, Musical Theatre, Acting, and Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Teach/Design the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
    2. Oversight of the Costume Shop
    3. Oversight and or costume design of multiple productions each year.
    4. Student advising
    5. Collaborate with program chairs, faculty, directors, designers, and/or guest artists.
    6. Work daily with students in all areas of costume production.
    7. Encourage and maintain professional standards.
    8. Other duties as assigned.
    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • MFA in Costume Design
    • Demonstrated professional experience
    • Experience teaching at a higher learning institution
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
